NOA CONFERENCE & EXPO/41st AGM GUIDELINES GUIDELINES

The Nigerian Optometric Association will, from 5th – 8th  of July 2017, be hosting her 41st  Annual Conference and Exhibition, scheduled to hold at the prestigious SIO Event Centre in Benin the capital city of Edo State, Nigeria. Every available pointer indicates that it will be One-of-a-kind event that will draw the attention of all stakeholders and put the Optometry profession on a pedestal to command prime attention in relevant circles and emerging policy directives.

As is becoming its trademark, the Dr. Damian Echendu-led executive of the association is turning every stone and pressing every relevant button to ensure that this event surpasses expectation. As we prepare for this unique conference in the city where optometry training started in Nigeria, it will be appropriate to educate ourselves on the minimum standards of behaviour expected of us during the conference, bearing in mind that International exhibitors and global brands in the eye care industry are expected at the event. The host organising committee (HOC) therefore encourage all delegates to imbibe and abide by these laid-down guidelines.

As you read this, REGISTRATION is on-going for the conference as every participant is expected to register EARLY ENOUGH and submit relevant information to the indicated quarters. This will make for timely processing of registration details and logistics. Detailed information on REGISTRATION can be found elsewhere on this site as well as on other relevant online platforms. It is beneficial for every intending participant to register for the conference online by visiting the conference website www.noaconference.com or www.noang.org. Without registering online you may not be able to receive all the information required for you to participate fully at the conference.

Benin is the capital of Edo State, housing a multitude of government parastatals, agencies and departments. Security is always provided to safe guard life and properties; hence it will be important for participants to be law-abiding, obeying all operational protocols prevalent in the city. Early arrival (especially for participants who are not conversant with the Benin environment) will be beneficial as it makes for ease of location of conference venue, on-site processing, settling-in and acquaintance with the locality. It will also be beneficial to make use of the HOC-organized shuttle vehicles and lodging facilities, for ease of movement/security to and from the conference venue.

Participants are expected at the conference venue early and appropriately-dressed, on every day of the conference, as THERE WILL BE STRICT ADHERENCE TO STIPULATED TIMING FOR EVERY PROGRAMME.

It is expected that PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE THEIR IDENTIFICATION CARDS ON THEM AT ALL TIMES. This is the ONLY FORM OF IDENTIFICATION ALLOWED DURING THE CONFERENCE.

ALL must be seated at least THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE the commencement of each scheduled programme.

ALL MOTHERS WITH BABIES MUST MAKE USE OF THE PROVIDED CRECHE CENTRE.

NO LUGGAGE IS ALLOWED INTO THE CONFERENCE HALL. Participants must keep all luggages in the cloak room, ensure they are appropriately tagged and keep tellers safe for subsequent retrieval.

Participants must exhibit decorum, be docile, and maintain quietness to ALLOW FOR INFORMATION FLOW during programmes. PHONES MUST EITHER BE SWITCHED OFF OR SET IN VIBRATORY MODES during programmes. UNNECESSARY MOVEMENTS DURING PROGRAMMES is not beneficial and therefore NOT ALLOWED.

Always make yourself available for security checks throughout the conference period.

 

Organizers will make adequate feeding arrangement and reasonable time will be allowed for refreshment. It is therefore imperative that participants avoid RUSH and disorderliness during meal times. It is demanded that participants follow approved queues to collect their meals and return to their seats for consumption. Adequate disposal facilities will be available at strategic locations hence participants are expected to dispose food remnants and packs properly. Every necessary provision will be made to aid your feeding hence there will be no need to shout at organizers. Kindly draw the attention of any attendant to inquire of and access any facility.

The exhibition arena will not be open to participants until it is officially declared so. Participants are to access the exhibition stands ONLY during approved times. Participants are encouraged to prepare adequately so as to patronize exhibitors as most items on display will be at subsidized prices. Exhibition floor opens at 11.00am and Closes at 6pm on Thursday 6th July 2017 while it opens at 9.00am and closes at 6.00pm on 7th Friday and 8th Saturday July 2017.

AT THE END OF THE CONFERENCE

At the end of each day or before you leave the conference venue endeavour to collect your valuables deposited at the cloak room. If you did not get your CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION at the venue, this can be sent to you via your State chapter at a later date or through email. Ensure that you account for ALL YOUR VALUABLES before leaving the conference venue. Also do same before checking out of your lodging facility. NOA, organizers or facility proprietors WILL NOT be held accountable for ANY valuable misplaced or lost during the conference.
